30% IRS FEDERAL TAX CREDIT

This car is eligible for a 30% Federal Clean Vehicle IRS Tax Credit to Qualifying Buyers. This is a credit when filing your tax return. (I can’t process the credit for Maryland buyers yet.) For example, this means that at the listed price of $12,850, your equivalent price is $8,995. In other words, you pay $12,850 now, and then get a $3,855 tax credit on what you owe to the IRS for taxes.

This is much better than a tax deduction which may only apply 20% or 30% of that figure towards your tax bill. The tax credit applies 100% of it to lower your amount of tax due. To see the qualifications and buyer requirements, CLICK HERE for the IRS Used Clean Vehicle Tax Credit Checklist and some more details at the end of the listing. When shopping for and comparing electric vehicles here or anywhere else, keep in mind that private sellers won’t be able to offer this tax credit.

This is a 2017 Chevy Bolt EV finished in Burst Orange metallic paint with the two-tone gray interior. It’s best to view this listing on a desktop or laptop computer. A smartphone won’t give you the same details. The Chevy Bolt was the first long range lower priced pure electric vehicle to sell in significant numbers. It puts out no tailpipe exhaust emissions or greenhouse gases. The Bolt is powered by a 350 volt 60 kWh lithium-ion battery pack powering a 150-kilowatt permanent-magnet synchronous AC electric motor putting out 200 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque at ZERO rpm. It’s mated to a single speed direct drive transmission connected to the front wheels. An electric motor puts out its maximum torque at ZERO rpm, and with 266 lb-ft on tap from a standing start, acceleration is rapid to say the least. 0 to 60 mph numbers are in the low 6 seconds. When combined with a smooth and seamless flow of power available from a transmission that never has to pause for a shift, along with the absence of noise from an internal combustion engine, you get a driving experience like no conventional cars can offer. You will have a grin on your face every time you step on the accelerator and leave most other cars in your wake. Think TESLA junior at a fraction of the price.

The Chevy Bolt’s powertrain combined with excellent aerodynamics and numerous energy saving features, allows it to get an amazing EPA rating of 128 mpg gas equivalent (mpge) city and 110 mpge highway, and a combined rating of 119 mpge. The Bolt electric motor is fed by a lithium-ion battery pack that can be recharged at home by plugging in to any standard 110-volt household outlet with the included charging cable. That cable comes with a 220V adaptor so if you have an electric dryer, you can plug into the dryer outlet for even faster charging of just a few hours. You can also install a 220V outlet on the outside of your house or in the garage if you don’t already have one. The Bolt can also be charged at Tesla Superchargers with a charging cable adapter for super fast charging in under an hour in most cases If you already have a charging station at home or have a charging cable or Tesla adaptor already, I can take off $100 each from the sale price if you don’t want the included charging cable or Tesla adapter.

This Chevy Bolt has numerous energy saving features including LED taillights, electric power steering and air conditioning, regenerative braking that makes use of energy that other cars waste while braking and coasting by recharging the battery pack, low rolling resistance tires and a host of aerodynamic tweaks. A curved front bumper, flush mounted headlights and grille and a steeply raked windshield that nearly matches the slope of the hood smoothes out airflow in front of the car. Smooth bodysides and a downward sloping roof smooth air around and over the car, and under-car airflow is aided by a nearly sealed underbody, as the aerodynamics under a car are just as important as above it. The result is a drag coefficient of 0.308, which is very good for a tall 5-passenger hatchback. Regen on Demand® allows increased deceleration while pressing a switch on the steering wheel without the need to step on the brake pedal to increase range, extend brake pad life and allow one-pedal driving.

The Chevy Bolt makes for both an excellent city car where the short length makes it easy to maneuver in crowded city streets, as well as a great highway touring car with its excellent range, spacious interior room and comfortable ride. The EPA rates the Bolt’s range at 238 miles on a charge, but that can be increased significantly by changing your driving style. Accelerating and braking smoothly along with keeping speeds under 65 mph can go far in increasing your range. Temperature also has a significant impact. When this listing was written, it hadn’t been above freezing for a few days, so the range shown on gauge was a few miles under the EPA rating. In the spring when it gets up into the 70’s, you can expect close to 270 miles of range, and if you practice any hypermiling techniques, you could even approach 300 miles. (Disclaimer: YOUR RANGE MAY VARY.)

Not only is the Bolt economical to drive, it’s also economical to maintain, being as close as any car maker has come to producing a maintenance free automobile. Without a conventional internal combustion engine or multi-speed transmission, the Bolt requires no oil changes, no spark plug and plug wire replacements, no fluid filter changes, no timing belts or valve adjustments, no transmission fluid service, etc. Plus there is no exhaust system, muffler, catalytic converter, oxygen sensors, ignition coils, fuel injectors, etc. to wear out. About the only routine scheduled maintenance for the Bolt are brake fluid changes and cabin filter replacements, both of which have just been performed. And if you are into being green, then besides emitting no pollutants, the Bolt may be eligible for numerous perks such as being able to drive alone in the HOV carpool lanes without a passenger, being exempt from annual emissions inspections, free or reduced parking rates at downtown or airport parking lots, reduced annual registration fees or initial sales taxes, etc. Check your state or local government for more details.

The Bolt has many innovative features and upscale content only found in more expensive vehicles, plus a few that are not found in any others. The keyless access and start system lets you enter and start your car without ever taking a key out of your pocket or purse. When you have the remote anywhere on your person, you can open a locked door or hatch by just pressing the button on the handle. To start the car you don’t need to fumble looking for your keys either, just step on the brake and press the start button. A Teen Driver function lets you assign a remote to your teen driver that that can be programmed to An on-board timer can be pre-programmed to recharge the battery at a set time such as during off-peak rates to save on your electric bill. Through a smart phone app or from a computer, you can remotely turn on the air-conditioner or heater. This function can be used to pre-heat or pre-cool the car prior to use while it is still connected to a power outlet so the interior is at a comfortable temperature and less energy from the battery is used for climate control. A back up camera displays the view behind the car whenever you select reverse, and grid lines aid in parking. The bright dash-top charging indicator light lets you visually see charging progress far away from the car. The heated steering wheel and heated front seats keep you comfortable without using the more power consuming heater as much. LED taillights use less power and produce greater visibility as well as provide faster reaction times for those behind you.

The Chevy Bolt was designed to be an affordable long-range compact 5-passenger hatchback EV that improves on it’s predecessor, the Chevy Spark EV in all parameters, while taking much of the design and technology of it’s sister car, the Chevy Volt plug-in hybrid, to the next level of full electric drive. From its sleek lines and sculpted design incorporating elements from premium upscale vehicles, it looks handsome from any angle without being flashy. Starting up front with a smoothly curved bumper flanked by clear lens projector beam headlights incorporating a ribbon of LED marker lights. They are surrounding the flush mounted solid grill with an engraved free-form design and the Chevy bowtie emblem in the center. Below that, a secondary matching grille is inset into a matte black surround with a conventional air intake below it. Continuing back, notice how the angle of the hood closely matches that of the windshield to minimize wind resistance, and along the sides, notice how the front and rear wheels are positioned as far forward and backward as possible to enhance interior room as well as improve handling and ride comfort. Large matte-black wheel opening moldings enhance visual interest and add protection from door dings, and matching rocker moldings with chrome strips fend off rock chips. On top, you notice the roof angle dropping the farther you go back, and a body color sharkfin antenna at the rear adds some Euro styling. A body color spoiler aids airflow and body color door handles complete the monochromatic appearance. Out back, a center mounted LED brake light is incorporated into the spoiler while large LED taillights give drivers behind you better visibility. A chrome accent molding in the bumper matches the ones in the rockers for some bling, and a matte-black diffuser below the bumper working in conjunction with the spoiler, help aerodynamics.

The exterior is beautiful to look at, but if you like the latest high-tech look, the interior design is handsome as well. Open the door and admire the two-tone light and dark gray seat materials with a grippy textured cloth weave and sporty contrasting red stitching. Get in and sit down into a bucket seat that adjusts to the perfect driving position with settings for height adjustment and recline. Note the side bolsters on both the backs and the cushions to keep you in position on curving roads. Check out how comfortable the cushions feel and how the upright seating position gives you a commanding view of the road out from the windshield. Then adjust the tilt and telescoping steering wheel to achieve complete driving control. Notice how the thickly padded leather wrapped rim and finger holds affords just the right grip and that the cruise control and Multi-information switches are just a fingertip away. Next, look ahead at the instrument cluster with the color Multi-Information Display. Look to the center of the dash at the large touch screen infotainment screen and its clean high resolution display. Now look right and left at the chrome and piano black trim on the door panels and center console. Press the buttons for the radio, cruise control or windows. Lastly, notice the ivory trim in the instrument panel. Not only is the styling very handsome, but all the textures have a rich feel and look and all the switchgear have a precise soft touch action. From the tight weave of the cloth upholstery, the graining pattern on the dash and door panels, or the layout of the knobs and switches on the dash, everything looks and feels like it came from a more expensive car.

Next, take it for a spin. Without having to take the key out of your pocket or purse, press the chrome button in the door handle to unlock the car. Open the door and sit down into the comfortable bucket seat. Adjust it fore and aft, up or down and for seatback recline. And again, without having to take the key out of your pocket or purse, step on the brake pedal and press the POWER button. Notice the quiet as the splash screens illuminate and the car powers up. After putting your seatbelt on, put it into reverse to back out. See how clearly the backup camera shows the view behind in the touch-screen display and the grid lines aid in tight spots. Now put it in drive and step on the gas, err…, accelerator pedal and feel how rapidly and silently the car accelerates. Be careful the first time as you may chirp the tires. If you want even more responsiveness, press the SPORT button in the dash to maximize power. Find a winding road with some sharp curves and feel how well the side bolsters keep you firmly in place and how the suspension hugs the pavement. Drive over some bumps and see how the suspension gives a secure yet comfortable ride. At the next traffic light, step on the brakes and feel how smoothly they perform with no pedal pulsations or pulling to one side and notice the steering wheel is on dead center with no pulling to one side. Now get on the highway and notice how easily it keeps up with traffic. 70 or 80 mph in total comfort. So whether on congested city streets, open highways, or twisting mountain roads, you will be amazed how smooth and comfortable this Chevy Bolt is to drive.

The car is in excellent condition inside and out. The paint looks beautiful with deep gloss and brilliant shine, and this Burst Orange metallic just about glows in the sunlight. This color was only available on 2017 and 2018 models and was a $400 extra cost option. It has been fully detailed, first with Meguiar’s Iron Decon to remove iron particles from the finish, then the paint was cleaned with Meguiar’s Smooth Surface Clay System to remove embedded contaminants, next it was polished with Meguiar’s M110 Mirror Glaze polishing compound, and finally topped off with Meguiar’s M27 Pro Ceramic Hybrid Sealant for a durable long lasting brilliant high gloss shine. The headlights look crystal clear and the tires were coated with Meguiar’s Endurance tire gel. All the glass, moldings, trim and emblems are excellent. I checked the car out top to bottom and found no evidence of ever being wrecked and it doesn't look like it's even had any paintwork done to it. The only cosmetic issue to mention is circled below.

Few small dents in the A-pillar:

In addition, this Bolt has all it’s underbody panels installed. If a mechanic forgets to replace a panel or you run over a curb and break one off, your economy may suffer as the aerodynamics under a car are just as important as above it. If you are looking at other Bolts for sale as well, check underneath and make sure all the following panels are still intact as they are not cheap to replace.

The interior is in great condition as well. It has excellent carpet, upholstery, dashboard and door panels with no significant signs of wear. Only the center armrest has a few small nicks, and it has a new drivers seat bottom cover. The car doesn‘t appear to have been smoked in. In fact, it’s not even equipped with a lighter. It comes with a brand new set of factory carpeted floor mats still in the wrapper. The cargo area looks like it was never used and the motor compartment has been fully detailed and is clean enough to eat off of.

Mechanically it runs and drives excellent. The motor and “transmission” are nearly silent and silky smooth. The steering wheel is on dead center going down the road with no shakes or vibrations at speed, the brakes are firm with no pedal pulsations or pulling to one side when stopping and the suspension is tight. The A/C blows ice cold in the summer and the heat is toasty warm in winter. It has a matching set of four new Firestone All Season tires. These tires combine exceptional all-season wet/dry traction, extended comfort, excellent handling and superior tread life. In fact, these tires have an excellent 560 treadwear rating and came with a 65,000 mile warranty. They have been balanced with weights mounted on the inside of the wheel for a super clean look.

The car was fully checked out and serviced with nearly $2,000 worth of new or recent parts and service so that only your enjoyment rather than your immediate attention will be required on delivery. And that doesn’t include the high voltage battery replaced under recall and which has a warranty to 2030 or 130,000 miles, whichever comers first. CLICK HERE to see the battery warranty. Some of the items checked or serviced include:

  • New AC Delco cabin filter
  • New Everstart 12 volt battery

The car has been dealer maintained throughout its life, and with all the above mentioned service the car has recently received, you should be good to go for many more years before requiring any maintenance or repairs.

You’re sure to get many questions and complements about it at the mall or supermarket parking lot from total strangers. If you are serious about buying a very clean Chevy Bolt, this is about as low as they go in this condition. Sure, you can find many of these cars that look nice and seem like good deals for a little less money, but if after getting it home you have to spend another $2,000 or $3,000 on service, repairs and tires, it’s no bargain. Remember, you can get a great deal online with prices sometimes way below retail, but nobody is going to “steal” a vehicle and no seller is going to give one away either. Also when comparing prices to the other Bolts listed for sale, remember the things that you won’t have to spend money on soon after getting it home. With this car you won’t have to spend $700 on a new set of tires, you won’t have to spend $300 on a complete front brake service, you won’t have to spend $300 on a complete rear brake service, you won’t have to spend $300 on a brake fluid change and 12V battery. With many of the other listings on Ebay, Craigslist, Facebook or on dealers’ lots, you’re lucky if they even check the tires before delivery. When comparing this car to the others, also keep in mind that this car runs great, is fully serviced, hasn’t been wrecked or smoked in and is very clean. Also check if they come with both key fobs and key blades because a new pair from the dealer, with programming and cutting, is going to cost you $250. And if you lost that only fob, it’ll cost three times as much to replace the security module plus the towing charge.

If you are looking for a Bolt in beautiful condition at a great price, then this car is hard to beat. Also remember that we don’t charge dealer processing fees or document fees that many other listings have for $200 or more and bury in their fine print. Located in the Suburban Washington DC area. Delivery possible at reasonable cost. For more information email me at atikovi@email.com

FEDERAL TAX CREDIT DETAILS: Check the details, requirements and qualifications of the tax credit at: https://fueleconomy.gov/feg/taxused.shtml It is the buyer’s responsibility to verify that they qualify for the tax credit before buying.
